08 Aug Congratulations Australia…you’ve hit 25 million
At 11 pm last night, our population hit 25,000,000, you can track this via the population clock provided by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Why is this important?
This is the reason we have a broken public transport system that can’t cope, we have roads that can’t accommodate for the number of cars on the roads and infrastructure projects that are already obsolete before they are finished. This is also one of the reasons property prices have skyrocketed over recent times. If one person arrives every minute, where is that person going to live? They must live somewhere. Let’s say they are part of a family and based on the statistics from the ABS, there are 2.6 people per household. We will need a new property built every 2 minutes and 38 seconds to keep up with the demand…maybe these are extreme numbers, but you get my point, sooner or later these people become your competitors when you are bidding on a property to buy or to rent.
Because of this, I want to ensure you start thinking about how you could help your children to get into the property market. Even if you don’t have children yet.
Sydney and Melbourne are the popular choices for international immigrants. Which is why they have the strongest property markets. Even though we have seen a drop in property values and auction clearance rates. As long as we welcome international immigrants, property will remain in demand.
The property market is actually going to be playing catch up, to supply the demand of immigration. This is another reason why we have seen land releases in South Western Sydney and North Western Sydney become very popular with families as they are still affordable, compared to other suburbs that have been established for many years or closer to the city.
On another note, Meet Florence Rose De Andrade.
We welcomed my niece Florence on Friday at 11.04am. Florence did her bit to contribute to reaching 25,000,000.
Imagine what house prices will be like when Florence is ready to buy her first property.
