15 Sep Oktay competed in a weightlifting competition?
It’s March 2020 and we are all being told to stay home by the government.
Working from home was exciting.
Pyjamas replaced suits, eating everything in the pantry, not having a distinction between work / home life and working 14 hours a day was soon becoming habit.
I stopped one day and made a commitment to myself to make 2020 my year. I couldn’t control the global pandemic but I could control my actions.
My actions
- Worked out 2 times a day – one workout was always outdoors – walk/cycling
- Stuck to a diet with no cheat meals and no alcohol
- Committed to reading 10 pages a day
I had tried countless times to get healthier and lose weight, but this time was different because I didn’t miss a day. I didn’t give myself an opportunity to think about it, I just did it.
I got the most out of the workouts that I didn’t want to do.
I surrounded myself with people that had achieved success in things that I wanted.
The results
- Went to gym or worked out when I didn’t want to
- Lost 15kgs of weight and still going
- Trained and competed in my first-ever weightlifting competition last week and hit 3 pb’s
- I now feel the best I have ever felt
I have started the journey to become the best possible version of myself for me, my wife Michelle, my son Isaac, my family, my friends, for my business and for my clients.
